Needs an edit desperately

The thesis for the work is a good one; the writing is acceptable. The biggest issue is the desperate need for an editor - having an editor with a background in English would be a tremendous help. The plot and subplots are so scattered about this work that it is just irritating to attempt to read beyond chapter 1.
Don't buy this work - avoid it until the author and publishing company find an editor! UGH!

My View – Story:
A Good Vintage by Ashlyn Kane was a very pleasant second chance love story. Luke and Mal knew each other once and then life got in the way. They reunited years later and found the love and happiness they deserved.
I struggled a bit with this narration as the story bounced back and forth between past and present. It was obvious when when it was a flashback as the author prefaced each one with the word “interlude.” But because the past and the present shared characters and a setting, it took me a little while to figure out when things jumped back to the present. Also Mal and Val are very similar names and sound almost alike when spoken. However, once I got the hang of things, I easily followed along and was able to enjoy the rest of the story.
Luke and Mal’s story was really just a recap of the past interspersed within the telling of them rekindling a never forgotten desire. It was low angst with no real plot. It was slow and steady and filled with the normal things couples deal with. There were some nice developmental elements as the men grew and dealt with their families and their pasts, but that was really it. I would characterize this as slow, steady, and pleasant. This was a romance at its core with the focus being on the love and relationship and little else. I enjoy this type of story from time to time. It is easy to read(or listen to in this case) and fills an emotional gap when I get a hankering for something sappy and happy.
I enjoyed this story and would not mind revisiting these men later in their life as their relationship becomes more settled and they start a family.
My View – Narration:
John Solo did a very good job with this story. He really gave life to the characters and carried the emotion to the reader well. I enjoyed listening to him and really think he added to my enjoyment of this story. I am not sure if I would have enjoyed this as much if I had read it.

Warning!

Warning: hide all the glue in your house because once you start this book, the glue will coat your fingers so that you can't release it until you've read the last page. This is a fantastic book and I loved it. The writing, the story and the characters are going to be in my mind for a long while. The sex does not overwhelm the story and I like that. Very simply, this is a beautiful book from beginning to end and I want a lot more by this author.
