wish it were longer

I don't normally give 4 stars to such a short story,but I really liked it,I wish the author could have made it a little longer cause even in just a few pages you get a sense of the charectors.Maybe someday she'll write a longer one and when she does,I will be one of the first in line to read it, tho the story was short,it was hot and it made me think!!! Some people will probably give negative reviews cause its short and mostly sex,but hey its free,try it for yourself and see what you think,I think you'll enjoy it and wish the author wrote more like I did!!

Short and Fast

This book is VERY fast paced and short. The part that struck me as odd was when he revealed what he was she was like 'eh whatever' and was all hot and heavy for him when she's a virgin.

Secondly anybody notice the cover looks familiar? Chosen from the Vampire Academy Series, only difference is they changed the charm from a moon to a cross on this cover.

Very helpful for me!

I had a lumbar disc that burst open last spring. I guess that while I was so unstable in the lumbar area, I did something to my upper back. The xrays made my doctors say 'scoliosis' and 'spinal stenosis' and they said there was not a lot to be done there. I felt like I could not tell what I was doing that would make it so painful -- it seemed to me that I was doing the same things and sometimes be in raging throbbing pain and sometimes feel like a normal person. After many months of near constant pain, the lower back healed, but I could not make any progress with the upper back. I did notice however that movement helped, catching the pain early and lying down helped, and heat helped. So I figured I could deal with this myself (I don't have a model about how movement, relaxation and heat actually help with spinal stenosis or scoliosis, but I figure that muscles and bones I should be able to control).

I downloaded the sample lesson from Bruce T. Holmes' website. I found it very helpful. I am on lesson 18 now and getting a little better every day. For the first time in over a year I had 24 hours without pain!! Some of the lessons are painful, but the instructions are to just notice that and start imagining the motion rather than doing it. And some of the lessons really seem to provide relief for many hours. They have also helped me to pay more attention to the 'core' exercises provided by my physical therapist (they were helping my lower back and hurting my upper back). But now that I have learned to pay more attention to movement, I can do them in a helpful way.

It reminds me of a 'poem' by R.D. Lang about psychiatry... something like:
You are a pain in the neck,
to protect myself from you
I tense my neck muscles
which gives me the pain in the neck that you are.

Hopefully, we can learn to relax and relearn psychologically as well as physically!

Good deal

I'll warn you that I haven't finished all of the lessons on this album, but what I've done so far is good. Some of the lessons have a bit talking and are interspersed with anecdotes and tangents. That is more a function of their being given to a live audience as opposed to being recorded in a studio, and some of the talks contain very useful information. All in all, considering the price of so many ATM CDs, this is a really good deal.
Another warning I would give is that this probably isn't the best place to start. Although the lessons seem to be for those with relatively little experience in the Feldenkrais method, there are probably better places to get a sense of the system. Of course, a live teacher is best. I also like the tapes done by Elizabeth Beringer and David Zemach-Bersin. They are a good intro set. That said, if you have a little experience in the system (i.e., you know to make the movements small, slow, and always done with emphasis on awareness) and want to get some more lessons to put on your ipod/mp3 player, I highly recommend this. The lessons are very good, the explanations of the movements are clear, not always perfect, but more than adequate. It could use a few more breaks to collect yourself and notice changes, but that's what the pause button is for. I would give it four stars as a product, but I think it deserves an extra star for being a good deal.

Glad This is Available Again

These guided lessons first came to my attention from my public library in the 1980's. My copies have gotten old and some are missing. I shared those cassette lessons with friends and family and am absolutely thrilled to find them again, especially on CD/MP3. These are masterworks from a talented man in his prime.

I have taken lessons from Awareness Through Movement practitioners, but Bruce is the best I have come across. Personable, fun and full of the joy of what this work can do for your body. From reading Moshe's books it is clear that these lessons are the centerpiece for opening up your life to new possibilities. Enjoy this bargain and the changes that occur in your life and relationships.

About the Author

Hideo was born in Yotsuya, Tokyo. His cooking training commenced in the family restaurants, where he learnt from his parents the principles of sushi and kappou-ryori food preparation, cooking and presentation that had been passed down through the generations of his family. At the same time he learnt the philosophy of Chakaiseki (the tea ceremony cuisine), Teikanryu Shodoo (calligraphy), Ikenobou-Ryuuseiha (flower arranging) and Hocho Shiki (cooking knife's ceremony) at the Shijyoushinryuu School

One of the best books of its kind

Great book with lots of recipes, a wide range of ingredients, and very much in the izakaya spirit. A few standards, but many more new recipes. Very much like the izakaya I used to visit when I lived in Japan. Nice photography as well.

About the Author
D. Stanley Eitzen (Ph.D. University of Kansas) is professor emeritus in sociology from Colorado State University, where previously he was the John N. Stern Distinguished Professor.  Among his books are Social Problems (with Maxine Baca Zinn and Kelly Eitzen Smith)and Diversity in Families (with Maxine Baca Zinn and Barbara Wells), both of which received McGuffey Awards from the Text and Academic Authors Association for excellence and longevity over multiple editions. He is also the author and co-author of four Solutions to Social Problems volumes with Allyn & Bacon; Paths to Homelessness: Extreme Poverty and the Urban Housing Crisis (with Doug A. Timmer and Kathryn Talley); Sociology of North American Sport (with George H. Sage); and Fair and Foul: Rethinking the Myths and Paradoxes of Sport.  He has served as the president of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport and as editor of The Social Science Journal.

 

Maxine Baca Zinn (Ph.D. University of Oregon) is Professor Emeritus in sociology at Michigan State University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. Her main research interests are racial inequality, gender, and family life. She is the author and co-author of many other books, including Diversity in Families (with D. Stanley Eitzen and Barbara Wells),Social Problems (with D. Stanley Eitzen and Kelly Eitzen Smith), Women of Color in U.S. Society, Gender Through the Prism of Difference, and Globalization: The Transformation of Social Worlds. In 2000, she received the ASA Jessie Bernard Career Award.

 

Kelly Eitzen Smith received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Arizona.  She is currently the director of the Center for Applied Sociology and a lecturer at the University of Arizona.  At the Center for Applied Sociology she has conducted research in the areas of day labor, homelessness, poverty, urban housing and neighborhood development. Her sociological interests include gender, family, sexuality, stratification, and social problems.  She is also the co-author of Experiencing Poverty (with D.Stanley Eitzen), andSocial Problems (with D. Stanley Eitzen and Maxine Baca Zinn).

I ordered this book also for my class and it came right on time with the other book I had ordered from them, they actually shipped them together so I was happy about that. And of course its a used book so I it has minor wear but very minor. The book I have is in better condition that what the school library has. So I'm very happy that I got these books on time and I paid a good price for the condition they were in

Excellent, but noticeably biased.

This book is very good. It makes a lot of important points and is actually very, very, good for a textbook. The reason it is being given three stars, however, is that book- while very awesome, very easy to read, and very informative about social issues- is noticeably biased. Bias cannot be concealed, no matter how hard an author tries. I understand that. But the book is noticeably biased politically for one group over the other. I'm not a republican or a democrat, so it is annoying to see such petty quarrels bleed through into my social problems text. Despite it's blatant bias, however, the textbook is very, very, good and I would highly recommend it. Completely worth the buy.
